Cindy Behlmar earned her undergraduate business degree at The College of William & Mary and her graduate business degree at Old Dominion University. Additional credentials include Certified Management Accountant, Distinguished Toastmaster, and Certified General Mediator. She has spent her entire career in the health care industry, with emphasis on managed care organizations and practice administration, and recently received the President’s Volunteer Service Award. As a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, she served a term on its Council and was its Liaison for Stewardship and then Liaison for School. Her niece, Mikayla, is enrolled in the 6th grade at Trinity Lutheran School.

Alonzo Brandon graduated from Old Dominion University with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and returned to establish a career that has progressed from Director of Development to Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations to presently Vice President for University Advancement. He was instrumental in launching the Student Leadership Institute as a partnership between ODU and the Civic Leadership Institute. In addition, he serves on the Boards of the Civic Leadership Institute, TowneBank, and the Virginia Arts Festival. He and his wife Linda have two sons who attend Trinity Lutheran School; Miles is in the 5th grade while Noah is in the 2nd grade.

Bonnie Carlson obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Education from The College of William & Mary and a Master of Science in Music Education from Old Dominion University. Her 40-year career in teaching music with Newport News Public Schools included conducting and adjudicating events such as Newport News All-City Chorus, Virginia District VIII Choral Festival, and All-Virginia Elementary Chorus; she retired in 2015. In addition, she has presented at in-service conferences for the Virginia Music Educators Association, the Virginia Educational Media Association, and the Virginia Athletic and Physical Education Association. She has served as Chair of her school’s Relay for Life team and remains active in community theatre. She and her husband, David, are members of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was Interim Music Director and is currently a Stephen Minister.

Lindsey Carney experienced the strong foundation of private education at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and Peninsula Catholic High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in Governmental Administration from Christopher Newport University. Upon graduation from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at The College of William & Mary, she joined Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein, L.C. Today she is a partner in that firm and organizes its Annual United Way Campaign. Community service includes coaching the Trinity Lady Lions basketball team. She is married, and her daughter, Abigail, graduated from Trinity Lutheran School in 2013.

Robin Cooke holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Old Dominion University. Her college career included playing field hockey on four NCAA championship teams; among several honors, she was named “ODU Female Athlete of the Year” and inducted into the “ODU Hall of Fame.” She subsequently served as a volunteer coach at ODU for 12 years. Her professional career is well established in the banking industry; as one of the founding employees of TowneBank, she is currently an Executive Vice President and the Director of Retail Banking. She has been recognized by Inside Business as one of its “Top 40 Under 40” as well as by Girls’ Inc. as “Strong, Smart, and Bold.” She and her husband, Michael, have two children who attend Trinity Lutheran School; Brady is in the 1st grade while Drew is in Kindergarten.

Patricia Fielding received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with Writing Emphasis from Christopher Newport University. She has over 30 years of extensive experience in supporting organizations with editing, technical writing, and training development skills; she is currently an Instructional Systems Designer with Allen Corporation of America. Upon joining Trinity Lutheran Church in 1996, she has served as Nursery Supervisor, Music Leader for Vacation Bible School, and Choir Member. Community involvement includes Virginia Choral Society, the Governor’s School for the Arts, Boy Scouts of America, and Peninsula Bicycling Association. She is married, and all three sons attended Trinity Lutheran School.

Connie Hoover possesses a bachelor’s degree in Education from Bowling Green State University and a master’s degree in Communication from Norfolk State University. Her career has spanned almost 50 years in teaching and training individuals in the public school setting, the college setting, and the organizational setting; i.e., Hampton City Schools, Thomas Nelson Community College, and Symantec.  In addition, her sole proprietorship of an international training enterprise has featured clients in the public and private sectors as well as the United Nations. She has served on the Church Council of Trinity Lutheran Church twice and also chaired its Personnel Committee and Property Committee.  She is welcomed back to the Board of Trustees for Trinity Lutheran School; she served twice previously, when both of her daughters attended from Preschool through 8th grade.

Bob Muth began his career in the U.S. Air Force before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Old Dominion University. He is approaching the 20-year mark in a career with Huntington Ingalls, currently as Engineering Manager. Additional credentials include certificates in Lean Practice, Leadership, and Project Management; he has attended Dale Carnegie courses in High Impact Presentations and Human Relations and was recruited to be a class coach in the latter twice. His wife, Valerie, has served previously on the Board of Trustees for Trinity Lutheran School.

Lisa Surles-Law received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and her Master of Arts degree in Counseling/Community Agency from Hampton University. She is the Program Manager at Jefferson Lab for “Science Activities for Teachers of the 8th Grade” and “Summer Undergraduate Laboratory Internship and Research Experience for Undergraduates” as well as Coordinator of its “Region II Science Teacher Night.” She has been recognized for “Teacher Programs that Work” by the Virginia Math and Science Coalition and also “Community Partnership Award” by the Virginia Association of Science Teachers. Her experience includes judging Science Fair events throughout Tidewater. She and her husband, Ken, have a daughter, Carol Ann, who graduated from Trinity Lutheran School in 2016.

Jacob Wessler obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Hillsdale College, Michigan, before receiving his medical education at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.  He is a Board-certified pediatrician, a Board-certified pediatric hematologist/oncologist, and holds numerous professional memberships.  As a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, he currently trains future pediatricians at the Portsmouth Naval Medical Center.  His wife, Tricia, is also a medical doctor.  They have two daughters, Abigail, a fourth grader at TLS, and Elizabeth, enrolled in the Pre-3 class.

Steve Whetstine attended Trinity Lutheran School from kindergarten through 8th grade before ultimately graduating from the University of Virginia with accounting and finance degrees as well as The College of William & Mary with a Master of Business Administration degree. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with KPMG, LLP, in Norfolk. Community service includes VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads; additionally, he and his family are members of Northside Christian Church. His wife, Elisabeth, has served as Vice President of Trinity’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Their son, Carter, is enrolled in the 5th grade at Trinity Lutheran School.
